The Semicolon Journey

A personalized roadmap to better mental health

How the Semicolon Journey works:

1

Answer a Few Questions

A short triage screening across key areas of your mental health. No right answers. No pressure. Just honest responses that help us understand where you are right now.

1

Receive Your Semicolon Number

Your responses generate your Semicolon Number — a personal signal that shapes everything that follows. It tells the Journey which deeper assessments are relevant to you, so nothing you encounter is generic.

3

Complete Your Assessments

Work through a curated set of validated assessments at your own pace. Each one builds a clearer picture of your specific patterns and areas of concern — without the noise of content that doesn't apply to you.

4

Arrive with Something Real

At the end of your Journey, you receive a private PDF summary of your results — structured, clear, and ready to share with any mental health professional you choose to work with.

Not at all. The Semicolon Journey is for anyone who wants a clearer understanding of their mental health — whether you’re struggling right now, supporting someone you love, or simply curious about where you stand.

The initial triage screening takes around 10 minutes. The full Journey — including your recommended assessments — is self-paced. You can move through it over days or weeks, entirely on your own schedule.

Yes. Your Semicolon Number and all of your responses are private to you. Nothing is shared, sold, or visible to anyone else. You are in complete control of what you do with your results.

No — and it’s not designed to. The Semicolon Journey helps you understand yourself better and arrive at professional care more prepared. Think of it as a bridge, not a destination.

When you complete your Journey, you receive a structured summary of your assessment results. It’s yours to keep and share with any therapist, counselor, or doctor you choose. It’s not a clinical report, but it gives professionals a meaningful head start in understanding you.

Your active Journey stays open until you complete it. If your circumstances change significantly over time, speak to a mental health professional about whether a fresh assessment would be appropriate.

Yes. The Semicolon Journey is completely free for all Project Semicolon community members.

Depending on your triage responses, you may be guided through any combination of established tools covering depression, anxiety, trauma, sleep, mood, substance use, eating patterns, ADHD, and more. You’ll only ever see the ones relevant to your Number.

Yes. The Journey is built on validated clinical instruments and produces a structured PDF summary that can serve as a useful intake supplement. It is not a replacement for clinical assessment, but many practitioners find it helps clients arrive at their first session with greater self-awareness and organized baseline data.
